Everybody gets anxious. It's normal to feel worried when facing something difficult or dangerous - mild anxiety can be a positive in giving you energy and focus.
However, high-anxiety can interfere with your ability to live a normal and happy life, and leave you exhausted and frustrated.
Anxiety disorders
A - Phobias
A phobia is a fear that is out of proportion to any real danger, these may be: a fear of heights, spiders, mice, blood, injections or enclosed space (claustrophobia).
B - Social phobia
An exaggerated fear of being in social situations.
C- Agoraphobia
A fear of various places or situations, such as crowds or public places, often associated with panic disorder.
D - Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)
Recurring obsession usually involving thoughts or images about things that trigger feelings of disgust e.g germs, dirt or violence.
E - Panic disorder
Living 'In fear of fear'. Sudden feelings of anxiety that occur without warning and for no apparent reason. Symptoms can be very severe and may feel like a wave of panic.
F - Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
Those who have had or witness a traumatic event may experience flashbacks, high anxiety or repeated thoughts about the incident.
G - Generally Anxiety Disorder (GAD)
A level or high anxiety that is constant, causing you to feel worried or anxious most of the time - often for no obvious reason.
