Why use CBT
CBT is now the primary form of therapy used in the NHS.
Your past is important, sometimes we need to understanding what went on in the past that effects you today. CBT recognizes this but puts more emphasis on the future, and gaining results.
How many times have you found yourself behaving in a way that is self-destructive, and repeating this behaviour, but not knowing why. If you repeat destructive relationships or behave in ways that you know hurt you - we will work together to understand the problem and change it.
It is not events that cause problems, but the way we view ourselves and the world. You will learn to avoid emotional distress by changing these errors in thinking.
By adjusting your thinking to a more reasonable and calm view - you will avoid misconceptions, faulty analysis, self-deception and blind spots.
CBT puts you to be in control of your own recovery. You will learn to become your own therapist. CBT helps you gain control over situations which used to overwhelm you, so that you are no longer a victim.
In Summary
A. Feeling and behavior are directly affected by the way you think.
B. Negative and self-defeating thinking (often caused by the past) are the cause of many problems.
C. Learning to change these negative, unrealistic thought patterns will
reduce emotional disturbance and distress.
