EMDR therapy is specifically designed to overcome trauma - usually from a traumatic event such as an attack or car accident.
EMDR is cost effective, requiring fewer sessions than traditional therapy.
EMDR is effective therapy for:
- Panic attacks
- General anxiety disorder (GAD)
- Sexual abuse
- Car accidents
- Excessive grief
- Physical pain
- Fear of public speaking
What is EMDR
Most people recover from traumatic events quickly. However some people experience permanent problems, they do not completely recover.
PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) describes symptoms that continue, including high stress, anxiety, phobias, blackouts, panic etc. Many people become frightened around the same place or situation in which the traumatic event happened. Car accident victims often panic when attempting to drive.
Is EMDR only good for trauma
EMDR is also highly effective for panic attacks, anxiety, addictions, dissociative disorders, disturbing memories, stress, grief, physical or sexual abuse, stage fright, public speaking, phobias and pain.
Why EMDR works
Talking to a Counsellor can be helpful. However it often fails to cure trauma, as it does not give techniques to make clear and immediate changes in the way you respond to stress.
EMDR is a powerful method that makes direct changes to how you think and behave in stressful situations, giving you the skills to overcome trauma and fears.
